Palam Silks has always been a trailblazer in crafting innovative designs in silk. In 2023 and 2024, Palam has created a niche among music lovers with Resonance Collection and explored world art with Seeker Collection. Palam Silks has unveiled 3 brand new collections touching upon vibrant threadwork, unusual box pallus and culturally rich bhuttas.
Marapachi Collection is an ode to the wooden dolls of yore. These dolls made from medicinal trees like Sandalwood, Ebony wood are believed to be bringers of good fortune, prosperity and good health. Similar to Kanchipuram Silk Sarees, our ancestors considered Marapachi dolls as an heirloom and passed them to the women of the family as a wedding present. A decorated wooden horse doll in a mix of gold and silver zari debuts under the Marapachi Collection ranging between ₹20,000 to ₹25,000.
“Marapachi Dolls are believed to spread good energy and vibration because of the medicinal properties of the trees they are carved from. We wanted to bring this element into the design by adding the visual texture of a tree bark across the body of the saree.”
Jeyasree Ravi, Founder of Palam Silks.
Vignette Collection turns thread bhuttas into vibrant artworks. Threads are predominantly woven along with zari to amplify the visual impact of zari work. In Vignette Collection, we have thrown the spotlight on threadwork and they take the form of imperfect brush strokes.
Butterfly and Daffodil bhuttas make their first appearance under Vignette Collection priced between ₹20,000 to ₹25,000.
“A handwoven bhutta that has the same visual effect of a painting is a testament to a master weaver’s expertise. As a brand, we have never added embroidery or stonework to beautify our Kanjeevarams. We have relied only on the hands of our weavers to breathe life into all our design concepts and Vignette is truly a feather on their hats.
We wanted the brush-stroked bhuttas to look as real as possible and we adopted the intrinsic nature of threads to create this visual effect. We added zari as an accompaniment to enhance the threadwork, for a change.”

Monolith Collection re-imagines the pallu of the saree fearlessly. In a standard silk saree, pallu is hidden away from design experiments and follows traditional jacquard weave. Palam Silks goes out of the box by weaving the pallu “inside” a box.
The plain frame around the box design is a show of understated elegance.
“When it comes to a saree, even the customers tend to see the border first, body next and only then their eyes move towards the pallu. All design innovations are restricted to the bhuttas and borders - Ganga Jamuna borders, Morning-evening borders, Annam bhuttas, Temple bhuttas. But there are no “styles” to describe the pallu except a few like “Seer munthi” and Jacquard weave.
As we were dabbling with the designs we realised an empty frame around the pallu has completely changed the way a contemporary silk saree looks.
They resembled a box and we decided to call them “Box Pallu.”

Kanjeevaram is a designer’s dream. A canvas unlike any other to bring anything come to life in the most aesthetic way possible. We hope to re-imagine Kanjeevarams in terms of colours, designs and texture without any barriers, staying true to the integrity of the craft.
When you drape a Marapachi, you vibrate with good energy. When you drape a Vignette, you are an artist. When you drape Monolith, you are the showstopper.
