Folklore Collection ( Handloom Silk sarees )
A one-of-a-kind collection, Folklore has been designed by Ms. Sunita Yogesh, daughter of our founder Jeyasree Ravi. The sarees feature designs and motifs inspired from Indian folk art and architecture. The collections adhere to the traditional design spectrum with a twist. Kanchipuram has a rich heritage in Indian culture and, combined with design elements like chakras, floral and peacock bhuttas, the Handloom Silk sarees collection celebrates the rich history of Indian art. Hence, we haven’t modernised the collection completely.
The cultural elements deep rooted in our small towns and villages is the proganist of the collection. Objects like wall carvings, tile patterns, heavily chiselled walls and windows & wooden frames are picked to create special motifs that are special to specific villages around India. The design elements lean towards world renowned Indian folk artforms such as Gond, Patachitra and Kalamkari.
Completely original and never seen before, the Folklore Collection Handloom Silk sarees features designs that are new to Kanchipuram silks. Premiered at the Vogue Wedding Show in 2018, the Folklore Collection introduced a 2nd edition that premiered at the same show in 2019.
