Palam Silks Chennai | The Era of Modern Kanchipurams

Posted on by Influx Integrated Solutions Private Limited

The allure of silk is timeless. Whether it is granny’s old silk saree from her wedding or our stellar drapes that graze the runway, Kanjeevarams have a beloved place in our hearts.

Silk isn’t rare today, so what makes Palam Silks a cut above the rest? It is our unhinged desire to make every silk saree a distinct pièce de résistance, one that has never been seen/experienced/draped before.

Silk sarees have been around for centuries, yet there is only so much that has been done to give this beautiful fabric the status of the most luxurious handwoven product. Precisely why Gen-Z, looking out for fresh concepts, unique styles and original designs shied away from this precious drape. Well, not anymore.

Swatantra Collection

Distinctively Non-traditional..

A glance at our collection walks you through a new world in silk. One where all the traditional conforms are shattered to birth the new.

Traditional silk sarees are beautiful, but how often do you see Mandalas, Spanish tile art or Carnatic notes playing seamlessly across the 6 yards?

Every piece of Palam silk is a well thought out story. Earlier, our pallu did not have an elaborate zari play because the body was treated as a canvas - our patterns were unusual, distinctive and new age. This changed when we experimented Zentangle patterns in gold zari, woven across the pallu and named it Doodil.

Our personal favorite is the Nava collection, the crème de la crème for the South Indian bride, who drapes her Kanchipuram like a modern princess. Nava Collection flaunts Kanjeevarams Bridal Silk sarees in soft evening colors, rich patterns, and in exotic styles of traditional craft with unusual designs which exude grace on the D-day. We premiered NAVA at the most prestigious Vogue Wedding Show in 2017.

When was the last time a pattern on a silk sarees reminded you of Indian history’s stellar regimes? An ode to the mighty Kingdoms of South India, our Dynasty collection dabbles in elements from the Pallavas, Cholas, Cheras and Pandavas times.

Kalamkanchi Collection, a fusion of Kalamkari and Kanjeevarams Silks.

Every year, we come out with distinct collections, each an homage to a culture, inspiration or a memory that we hold close to heart. The best part is, it resonates with our clients so well, they keep coming back for more.

First dive into silver zari..

We are also the first brand to experiment exclusively with silver zari. For generations, zari meant pure gold tone. The silver twist, sparked conversations and intrigued spectators as they worked beautifully with pastel shades like never before. In a sense, Palam paved the way for a zari transformation that has taken the market by storm today.

Even as we play around with patterns and influences from around the globe, we have our ears close to our clientele. We tweak our designs to make saree draping convenient for them, as evident in our Corporate Pattu sarees Collection - sarees conceptualised for working women and executives.

Under the helms of Mrs. Jeyasree Ravi, the daughter of Nalli Kuppuswamy Chetty, Palam continues on its tryst with silk shaping, breaking conventions and evoking a “yes..exactly that!” from our patrons!
